Getting Around Canopy
Move around the Canopy admin portal: sidebar navigation, the command palette, keyboard shortcuts, the account menu, the delegation banner, and deep links.
What you’ll accomplish
Section titled “What you’ll accomplish”Learn the parts of the Canopy interface that are not tied to any one screen: how to move around quickly, how to tell which organization you are acting as, and how to share a link to exactly what you are looking at.
If you are looking for what each section does, start at the Canopy Overview instead.
Signing in and landing
Section titled “Signing in and landing”Canopy is at https://canopy.synthreo.ai. Your credentials are the same as your ThreoAI credentials, provided your account has the Canopy app permission.
After signing in you always land on the Dashboard at /home. Opening the bare site root redirects there too. If you followed a deep link before signing in, Canopy restores that destination once authentication finishes, so you land where you meant to go rather than on the Dashboard.
The sidebar
Section titled “The sidebar”The left sidebar is the primary navigation, and what it contains depends on your account. See Portal Navigation for the full list and which items are Synthreo-internal.
- Collapse or expand it with
Ctrl + B(⌘ + Bon a Mac). - At the bottom sits Tweaks, which owns your light or dark theme. Theme is not in the account menu and not in Settings.
The command palette
Section titled “The command palette”Press Ctrl + K (⌘ + K on a Mac) to open the command palette. Type part of a page name and press Enter to jump straight there.
If nothing matches you’ll see “No results.”
Keyboard shortcuts
Section titled “Keyboard shortcuts”Press ? anywhere in Canopy to open the Keyboard shortcuts dialog. It lists:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
⌘ / Ctrl + B | Toggle sidebar |
⌘ / Ctrl + K | Open command palette |
? | Show this help |
The account menu
Section titled “The account menu”Open the account menu from the top-right corner. Below the shell’s own rows, Canopy adds:
- Profile - your personal account details. See Your Canopy Profile.
- Submit Feedback - opens a feedback form for reporting a problem or sending a suggestion. See Report a bug or send feedback.
- Demo mode - visible to Synthreo administrators only. Covered below.
Signing out from this menu also clears the list filters and table positions Canopy had remembered for you in this browser.
Demo mode (Synthreo administrators only)
Section titled “Demo mode (Synthreo administrators only)”Demo mode hides personally identifiable information so a screen can be shared or recorded safely. When it is on, the menu row reads Demo mode: PII hidden.
What changes while it is on:
| Screen | What you see instead |
|---|---|
| Sharing | Customers become Customer A, Customer B…; people become User 1, User 2…; emails become userN@example.invalid; the “By” column is blank. The masking applies inside the Share and Remove dialogs too, not just the tables. |
| Settings | The company name shows as Customer <id> and cannot be edited |
| Vendor handle | The handle is bulleted out and locked: “Hidden and locked while PII-safe mode is on.” |
| API keys | Key labels show as key-<id> |
| User detail | Saving is disabled |
If you do not see this row in your account menu, you are not a Synthreo administrator.
Knowing which organization you are in
Section titled “Knowing which organization you are in”Two signals tell you:
- The Dashboard welcome strip names it: “You’re signed in to
<organization>.” - If you have delegated into a child customer, a banner sits at the top of every page with Return to
<your organization>.
That banner is the reliable one. While it is showing, every self-scoped screen - Platform Admin, Settings, the Dashboard - reflects the child customer, not your own organization. See Sign In As and Delegate Login.
The built-in assistant
Section titled “The built-in assistant”Canopy carries the same Synthreo assistant widget as Builder and Pylon, so you can ask questions without leaving the admin portal. It appears as a floating launcher on every page once you are signed in.
Deep links and shareable URLs
Section titled “Deep links and shareable URLs”Most Canopy screens keep their tab and period in the URL, so a copied link reopens the same view for a colleague. Useful ones:
| Link | Opens |
|---|---|
/analytics?tab=adoption&days=90 | Analytics, Adoption tab, 90-day window |
/sharing?tab=trace | Sharing, the Why can… trace tool |
/platform-admin?tab=skills | Platform Admin, Skill Catalog |
/customers/info/<id>?tab=features | A customer, straight to its Features tab |
/customers/info/<id>?tab=accounts&accountsApp=pylon | A customer’s Pylon accounts |
Two things do not travel in the link:
- The customer scope on Analytics. It identifies a child customer and is not carried in the URL. A shared Analytics link opens at the recipient’s own organization.
- Your position in a filtered table when that filter was scoped to a child customer.
An unrecognised tab value does not error - Canopy falls back to that screen’s default tab. So an old bookmark still opens the page, just not necessarily the tab you saved.
If it didn’t work
Section titled “If it didn’t work”| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| A sidebar item you expected is missing | It is gated. AI Configuration and Billing are Synthreo-internal | Nothing to fix; those surfaces are not part of Canopy as customers and MSPs use it |
⌘ / Ctrl + K finds nothing for a customer name | The palette searches navigation only | Open Customers and filter the table instead |
| A Save button is greyed out for no obvious reason | Demo mode is on, or the screen could not read its current value | Check the account menu for Demo mode: PII hidden; otherwise reload the page |
| Data belongs to the wrong organization | You are still delegated into a child customer | Use Return to <your organization> in the banner at the top of the page |
| A shared Analytics link shows different numbers | The customer scope is intentionally not carried in the URL | Ask the sender which customer they had scoped to, then select it yourself |
